SLANE travelled to play AFC in a derby midweek and were satisfied with the hard work and great team effort after this game.

They took an early lead when Jason Fairley hit hard and low into the bottom corner for the opener on the third minute.

Matthew McKnight hit another five minutes later with his first for the reserve team with a shot from well outside the box.

The home side broke through and punished Slane with a well taken goal.

Kyle Scott and David Boyd both had chances but the keeper saved well. Nigel Fry saved well for Slane just before the half.

The home side drew level when Slane fell asleep at the back early in the second half and the game was all square.

Boyd hit a sweet shot into the top corner giving the keeper no chance to put Slane in front.

Fairley whipped over a corner and Darren Trimble got up high to head home. Jason Fairley rounded off a fine display with a fantastic goal to gain another three precious points for the Slane.
