Slane started off brightly and were unlucky not to take the lead when Boyd hit just wide. Dickson also had an effort go over the top.

Nathan Martin pulled off two great saves as the home side added a bit of pressure which paid off when the nippy midfielder got in to head home from close range after a good ball over the top of the Slane defence.

Galloway and Shilliday were working hard in the middle of the Slane defence with Ryan Bready and Josh Porter solid at wing backs.

David Kinley played it wide to Scott who fired in a terrific shot that bounced back of the post; Boyd chased it down and slotted it past the diving keeper to draw the game level.

Slane had the home side on the back foot and Boyce played it square to Scott who fired just over.

Mark Maginess came more into the game in the second half in midfield, slotting it wide for Scott and Boyd to run at the City defence. City broke up field and caught Slane on the counter and took the lead with a well taken goal

Slane applied pressure, pushing for the equaliser and Boyd headed just inches over from a Dickson corner while Scott volleyed just wide.

Boyce and Kinley hit well but the keeper was well positioned. Martin pulled of a great double save for Slane to keep them with distance and the team fought hard to the final whistle but couldn’t find the net.

This was a good run out for the young Slane team and manager, Leonard Blakely, was proud of the way they went about their attacking play.

Best on the night for Slane was Ervine Boyd who was a real menace up the left for the City defence.

Slane were short a few players and also wish David Blakely a speedy recovery after breaking his arm at training last week.

Team: Nathan Martin, Ryan Shilliday, Josh Porter, Philip Galloway, Ryan Bready, Ervine Boyd, Mark Maginess, Jamie Dickson, Andrew Boyce, David Kinley, Ethan Scott.
