Top performance by MUSA team while Small Cup first round begins

The sixth round of the Mid-Ulster Senior Alliance was played at Killymoon Golf Club last Tuesday.

It was a glorious day and the course was in pristine condition. The Banbridge team had their most rewarding round so far this campaign.

They scored a massive 154 points from their four best cards. rian Mulholland led the way with 41 points.

Peter Hillen, despite playing a wrong ball at the 10th hole, had 40 points; Bobby Geddis had one point after two holes but finished with an excellent 37 points; Harry Shannon was well pleased with his 36 points.

The other four players, John Poots, Tony Ewbanks, Norman Doak and Philip Strong, stood back and applauded their teammates.

lThe Banbridge team have scored rather poorly up to now. They had 129 points at Downpatrick, 137 at Portadown, 132 at Lisburn, 143 at Banbridge and 134 at Ardglass. This new record score of 154 hopefully will inspire them for the remaining four rounds.

- The Small Cup is the Matchplay Championship for the juvenile members of Banbridge Golf Club.

The first round results are: Jack McKerr beat Matthew Burns; Jamie Thompson beat Neil Cherry; Conor McCullough beat Callum Barnes; Peter McConville beat Patrick Magennis; Dylan Cowan beat Sam Farson; Luke Crory beat Chrissy Burns; Gareth Orr beat Melissa Whan.

Scott Nelson beat Rory Kelly; Matthew Young beat Jonathan Brush; Michael Young beat Jack Reid; Gaz McConville beat Andrew Bennington; J. McCrory beat Megan Whan.
