Thomas and Connor are the major winners

Those with senior handicaps played off the white blocks for the Dougie Stevenson Cup.

Thomas McKibben (18) was the winner with 43 points.

Ruairi O’Neill (15) was second with 40 points and Gary McConville (12) was third with 40 points.

Callum Barnes (6) won the best gross prize, which was sponsored by Nigel Heslip of the Downshire Hotel, with a one over par 70.

Those with juvenile handicaps played off the yellow blocks for the Woody Cup.

The winner was Connor Weir (26) with 40 points.

Matthew Burns (21) was second with 38 points and James Whan (35) was third with 28 points.

The Top Girl was Megan Whan with 37 points.

Ethan Heslip won the 4 holes competition for beginners.

And, finally, Josh Crory picked up the prize for nearest the hole at the par three 12th hole.

Scott Nelson deserves credit for the manner in which he conducted proceedings on his Captain’s Day.

His great aunt, Lady President Glennis Smyth, was proud of him and rightfully so.

Thomas McKibben enjoys a ‘purple patch’

Last Wednesday was Juveniles Captain’s Day and young Thomas McKIbben won the Stevenson Cup.

The very next day, Thomas went out again and he won the Thursday Open Stableford.

Thomas didn’t have the best of starts. Two 6’s for the first two holes put him 3 over par.

He settled down after that and his finish was most impressive.

He was level par for the last six holes. It all added up to a gross 78 and a winning score of 43 points.

Scott Nelson (5) went round in one over par 70 and he took second place with 40 points.

Gary McCartney (9) was third with 39 points.

Gavin McKenna (+2) from Fortwilliam won the best gross for the third time with a super 4 under par 65.

Andrew Burns (19) and John Gallagher (10) just missed out with their 39 points.
