Noel’s wonderful week

LAST week was one to remember for Noel Robinson as he finished second in the PGA Tankard at Downpatrick on Friday and on Saturday had the best score in Division One of the Winter League.

Lisburn professional Stephen Hamill was accompanied by Noel and Noreen McCluskey. They started at the 10th at 8.40am on a cold morning.

Stephen had bad luck on the greens, with at least three putts lipping out. He finished his round in 68, one stroke behind the winner, Damien Mooney (Ballyliffin).

Noel missed a couple of short putts but finished with 39 points to lose out to Jonathon McCabe (Ormeau) on count back. Noreen could not get to grips with the greens and finished with 32 points.

On Saturday Noel had a run of three birdies starting at the 13th for 21 points. He had a ‘ding’ at the 18th. Due to a previous success in the opening week his score was reduced which put him out of the prize winners.
