New leaders at Foyle

ATFER card four in the Desmond Motors Winter League at Foyle new leaders have emerged with Team 3 Ciaran Gillen, Scott Kennedy, John Morrison and Ryan Gillen taking a four point lead over Team 21 after amassing 392 points from their four cards with the chasing pack in close contention.

The Ladies section of the Winter League played in teams of three and over 11 holes is turning out to be a close contested affair and after four cards Teams 5 and 13 are in joint first with Team 20 one point adrift in third spot.

Foyle Sunday Society keeps growing in popularity with 80 members now enjoying the competitions and Sunday’s large turnout enjoyed a fine winter day with some exceptional scores returned.

Best score returned came from 11 handicapper Martin Loughrey who has returned to his best form with an excellent winning score of 46 points closely followed in second place by Michael Gallagher (18) with 45 points which would have been enough to win on another day, John McDowell (12) finished in the third with a fine 42 points.

The Annual Christmas Hamper competition at Foyle will be held on Sunday, November 25 and all members taking part are asked to enter their names on the time sheet provided in the shop on or before Monday, November 19 when the draw for playing partners will take place.

The Desmond Motors Winter League continues daily as does the Turkey competitions and on Sunday Society continues and members are reminded to book their own tee times.
