Kelly wins in tough conditions

ON Saturday Faughan Valley Golf Club held their Monthly Medal Strokeplay competition, with 18 handicapper Niall McTaggart taking first spot with Nett 65.

Second and third positions was decided on a break of tie between 13 handicapper Barry Reilly and 13 handicapper John O’Neill both carding 67 Nett, with Barry taking the honours.

On Sunday there was a open stableford competition, in tough conditions which is reflected in the scores, in first spot was 4 handicapper Bernard Kelly with 35 points, second spot was taken by 17 handicapper John McLaughlin from Greencastle with 32 points, and in third spot was Shane McGahon carding 30 points playing off 10.

A reminder to all male members the first round of the Club Champion has be played by Saturday, May 19, This Saturday the club is hosting a Ladies Open Day and on Sunday its a Charity event in aid of McMillan Cancer all are welcome full complement of prizes.

The ladies competition, which took place last Wednesday was won after a break of tie finish by Marlene Montgomery (25) who scored 40 points, second also on 40 points was Jackie McNulty (33) and Kathleen Cooke (26) with 33 points was third.

Lady captain Kathleen is holding an open Stableford competition on Saturday and tee times can be booked at the centre.
