Juveniles Day at golf club

The weather, for once, was beautiful and the juvenile committee had competitions organised for boys and girls of every age group and every ability.

The results were as follows:

Josh Lockhart won the Keith Russell Memorial Shield for the best gross score of the day with a 71.

Gary McConville won the Sean Broderick Memorial Cup for the best nett score of the day with 44 points. Joshua Crory was second with 42 points and Robert Lyttle was third with 40 points.

Jamie Ewing won the Pepper Shield for junior handicappers with 48 points. Jack McKerr was second with 47 points, Patrick McNiff was third with 44 points and Dylan Cowan was fourth with 42 points.

Rory McNiff won the John Magennis Memorial Cup for primary school children with 38 points.

Michael Young was presented with the Eric Bryson Memorial Shield as the Juvenile Golfer of The Year.

Jonathan Brush picked up the Ferguson Cup as the leading juvenile in the senior golfer of the year points table.

Jack McKerr won the Campbell Challenge Cup for the best score of the yellow blocks.

Melissa Whan won the Lockhart Cup for the best senior girl.

Alex Luke won the Helen Cocks Trophy for the best juvenile girl. Louis Lyttle, Kate Bertholon and Sarah Magennis also got prizes in this category.

Melissa Whan won both the longest drive at the 14th and closest to the hole at the 12th.

Josh Lockhart and Jack Rice both won the longest drive in their sections.

Mark Cowan won the 9 holes competition.

Gary McConville, Conor McCullough, Paul McCusker and Lois Lyttle won the putting competitions.

It was a wonderful day all round and the juveniles, I’m sure, would like to thank everyone on the committee for organising everything so well.

That, in a way, signals the end of the summer. Things are going to be a lot quieter around the club from now on.
