GOLF: Tom McKibbin wins Irish Junior Open title

Newtownabbey golf sensation Tom McKibbin has won his second major of 2015, after he claimed top spot in the Under-12 Championship at the Irish Junior Open.

The Belfast Royal Academy pupil won by six shots when he carded three under at Killymoon Golf Club.

Tom’s Twitter page has been flooded with messages of congratulations.

The 12-year-old’s success comes hot on the heels of his win at the Under-12 World Junior Championships at Pinehurst, North Carolina earlier this month.

At July’s Future Masters tournament in Alabama, McKibbin, who is coached by Johnny Foster, carded a blistering opening round of five-under 65 to storm into the lead, but had to settle for eighth place overall.
