Garvey Fourths are too strong

BANBRIDGE were looking to build on their victory last week with a victory against the opposition down the carriageway.

Unfortunately things did not go to plan as Lisnagarvey brought an experienced side whose defence managed to deal with early pressure from the hosts.

Bann enjoyed the majority of the possession in the first half with Andrew Doyle flying up the wings as a right wing back, with some good chances being created but non converted.

The Garvey goal came midway through the 1st half with a crashed ball into the ‘D’ coming off the Bann left back’s stick and finding the side netting.

This rattled the young Thirds side and not long after, Garvey had their second when the defence failed to deal with a short corner.

The arrival of Scott McCandless in the second half provided much needed experience in the team and he controlled the play with his vocal and physical approach to the game. Bann had all the possession in the second half and they got their reward when Ryan Bell’s snap shot found the backboard.

Bann continued to push for the equaliser but couldn’t get past the Garvey old boys.

Peter Bingham’s saves from the few Garvey counter attacks kept Bann in the game desperately searching for the winner but Garvey held on for the win by the skin of their teeth.
