Duo lead the way in MUSA

ROUND eight of the Mid-Ulster Senior Alliance was played at Spa Golf Club last Monday.

Now Spa is a long and challenging golf course at the best times. As a result of the very wet summer, it was playing very long and that reflected in the scoring.

Dougie Stevenson, the team captain, and Dennis Lockhart were the top scorers for the Banbridge team. Both finished with 32 points.

Bobby Geddis and John Poots were the next best, with 31 points each.

A team score of 126 is not bad but it will not push the Banbridge team up the league table. They will remain in eighth place.

The other four players at Spa were Morris Phillips, Eamon O’Hagan, Sam Wilkinson and Joe E. Hamilton.

There are two rounds left in the MUSA. Round nine is at Tandragee on Wednesday September 12. And the Grand finale is at Ardglass on Tuesday on Wednesday September 19.

The eventual champions will be Lisburn, Portadown or Tandragee.

As for Banbridge, they will be happy enough to avoid relegation.
