Colin wins Reavey

THE Reavey Scratch Cup was played for at Banbridge Golf Club last Saturday.

The lowest handicap players contested this competition and it was played over 27 holes.

After the opening 18 holes, Garreth Moody was the surprise leader with a one under par gross 68.

Rory Leonard, the pre-tournament favourite, was in second place with a 69 and Colin Wilton was third on 70.

Damian Weir, Rory Madeley, Josh Lockhart and Trevor Woods were in contention with matching 72’s.

The final nine holes would decide it all.

Garreth Moody shot a two over par 38 and his final total was 106.

Rory Leonard came to grief at the 13th (his 8th) hole when his tee shot hit a tree and couldn’t be found. He finished with a 37 and tied with Garreth on 106 total.

Colin Wilton played superbly over the nine holes, shooting a three under par 33 to total 103 and take the top spot.

Colin has had a superb season and it is only fitting that he should round it off with victory in the Reavey Scratch Cup.

The final positions were as follows:

1st, Colin Wilton 103 (70+33); 2nd, Rory Leonard 106 (69+37); 3rd and Best Nett – Garreth Moody 106 (68+38); 4th, Damian Weir 109 (72+37); 5th- Shane Bell 110 (73+37); Best Back Nine: Alan McVey 36.
