The golf course is one of the best parkland courses in Ireland. The weather was beautiful. The competition is always played in the best of spirits, competitive but not too serious. All in all, it was just perfect.

Brian Mulholland was the top scorer for Banbridge with 34 points. This was not surprising as Brian worked on the green keeping at Lisburn for many years and he knows every nook and cranny of it.

John Parkes and Norman Doak both counted with 33 points each. This was Norman’s first outing with the MUSA and he was well pleased.

The fourth card to count came from P.J.Johnston who had 32 points.

That gave Banbridge a 4-card total of 132, which is respectable but nothing startling. Going into round 3 Banbridge were in joint 8th position on 266 points. Downpatrick, Lisburn and Portadown were joint leaders with 288 points each.

There is still a long way to go and Banbridge have home advantage in round four. That will be played tomorrow, the 19th of June.

The other four Banbridge players at Lisburn were Tom Fee, Dougie Stevenson (team captain), Tony Ewbanks and Bertie Shaw.
