Brian Grimes wins the Mizuno with a nett 60 and by one shot

Three players finished on nett 64, one shot away from a prize. The trio were Derek Hanna, Jonathan Brush and Adam McGregor.

The top 10 players all finished in the prizes. Kenny Jones (18) had a nett 63 and he won the seniors prize. Noel Cruikshanks (15) also had a nett 63 and he finished second in the middle section. Paul McCullough (12) had yet another nett 63 and he finished second in the low section.

John Beattie (26) went one better with a nett 62 and he won the high section. Eamon McConville (18) also had a nett 62 and he was runner-up in the high section. Garreth Moody (8) went round in 70 gross, nett 62, and he won the low section.

Gary Hazley (15) has been in superb form recently and he had a nett 61 in the Mizuno. He won the middle section.

William Malcolmson (6) shot a 3 under par gross 67 nett 61 and he looked a certain winner. As it transpired, two players finished ahead of William and he had to be content with the best gross prize. That’s still a great result for William.

Who do you think finished second? None other than the Mizuno man himself, Paul Magee (11). Paul doesn’t get the opportunity to play as much golf as he would like but he still retains all his natural talent for the game. He would dearly loved to have won the trophy in memory of his father but it just wasn’t to be. .

If ever a player was destined to win big, it was Brian Grimes (14). Brian had a gross 74, nett 60, and he won the Mizuno by one shot.
