Bann win first leg of Fred Daly Plate quarter-final

They have reached the quarter-finals where they came up against Edenmore.

The first leg of the quarterfinal was played at home last Sunday. The weather was fine starting out but it soon deteriorated. All the boys deserve credit for playing so well through the rain.

The results make happy reading for team manager Nigel Bryson and his team.

Scott Nelson (4) beat Brian Houston (5) 3 and 2.

Callum Barnes (5) beat Michael Watson (6) 6 and 4.

Josh Crory (6) beat Karl Teggart (6) 2 and 1.

Rory McMullan (6) beat Robert Norton (7) 5 and 4.

Jamie Thompson (7) beat Nathan Forsythe (7) 3 and 2.

Luke Crory (7) beat Michael Smyth (8) 7 and 6.

Jack McKerr (9) beat Josh Cahoon (8) 1 up.

Nigel was full of praise for all his team. He did mention that Jack McKerr came back from 3 down to win on the last green. That was a wee bit special.

The second leg is next Sunday at Edenmore and surely Banbridge can get the half point they need to progress to the semi-final.

The semi-finals and final will be played at Massereene Golf Club on Sunday the 4th of October. Banbridge will be there. No worries.

Philip Mallon seldom misses the Monday Sweep. This was his third win in the competition this year. It looks good but I know that Philip would have expected to win it more often.

1st- Philip Mallon (11) 32 points.

2nd- Patrick McAleenan (23) 27 points.

Thursday 17 September

Colin Kennedy beat both the weather and Brian Mulholland to win the Thursday Sweep. That was quite an achievement.

1st- Colin Kennedy (13) 32 points.

2nd- Brian Mulholland (9) 31 points.
