Banbridge take a massive lead

The quarter-final of the Senior Cowdy Cup paired Banbridge against Rossmore. The first leg was played at Banbridge last Sunday evening.

Kenny Stevenson, the home team captain, expected a tough encounter and he must have been pleasantly surprised the way things panned out. It really was a bit one-sided. Rory Madeley (3) beat Ciaran Lavery (scr) 3 and 1 and got three and a half points. Luke Woods (4) beat Dermot McCrystal (2) 2 and 1 and got three and a half points. Kieran Magennis (4) beat Ryan O’Doherty (2) 4 and 2 and got all four points.

Paul Magennis (50 beat Conor Callen (3) 5 and 4 he too got all four points. Jonathan Ward (5) beat John McQuaid (5) 4 and 3 and he got all four points. Jonathan Burns 95) beat Conor Friel (5) 5 and 4 and he got the maximum four points.

Josh Lockhart (5) beat Darragh Meehan (5) 4 and 3 and he got three and a half points. Jonathan Shannon (5) beat Cathal McGuinness (5) 7 and 6 and collected all four points. The final score was: Banbridge 30.5 Rossmore 1.5. The return leg will be played at Rossmore on Sunday August 11.
