Golf Club's Gala Day is an outstanding success

A GALA Golf Day was held at Banbridge Golf Club last Friday.

It was an effort to raise funds for the Golf Club and for Newry Hospice.

A lot of work was done prior to the event by Paul Magennis, the fund-raising convener, and his committee. They secured a lot of sponsorship and a large number of items for the auction. They were also able to get a total of 44 teams to take part. It was truly an heroic effort all round.

The weather, which is always a major factor, was kind, dry but rather windy. That certainly helped to ensure that everyone enjoyed the event.

A large amount of money was raised, the exact details of which are not yet known. Paul Magennis and his committee would like to thank all those who supported the Gala Day in any way.

The golf was fun as it included the main team event and several spot prizes.

The full results are as follows:

Winning Team: Stephen Pepper, Paul Magee, Jonathan Shannon, Patrick Grimes.

98 points.

There was a large attendance in the clubhouse later in the evening for the prize presentation and the auction, which was so professionally managed by Wesley Sayers.

The next Gala Day will be in 2012. Could it possibly be bigger and better than this one? I doubt it!
