Golf Club stretch lead at the top of the table

Banbridge Golf Club 6

Market Bar 2

THE Golf Club stretched their lead at the top of the McLean Bookmakers First Division to four points and know that the destination of the title is now in their own hands.

Jim Mathens and Johnny Ward gave the home side an early lead. P Delaney pulled one back for the Market in the next.

The Golf Club took total control of the match when both Rory Cleland and Rab Clydsdale won their match ups. C Beggs gave the Market a glimmer of hope of taking a point with victory in the next but that was quickly wiped out by John Brush in the seventh.

Wayne McAllister completed the scoring for the Golf Club in the last.

Shepherds 3

Anglers Rest 5

Shepherds lost more ground on the leaders and are under severe pressure to hold on to second spot after two home defeats on the trot.

The Anglers are comming strong in the run in and got off to the perfect start when E McClery and P Hickey took the opening two frames.

Shepherds looked as if they were turning the night around when they took the next three frames through Stevie Shepherd, Mark Doolan and Kat Wilson, but the Anglers had their own ideas as they ran off the final three frames in style through C McAvoy, E McKinley and M Doyle who secured the points.

Mulholland’s 1

Donacloney Legion 7

Unfortunately for Mulholland’s this match was as one sided as the score line suggests.

M Snoddy and Mick Wiltshire took the opening two frames. Mulhollands’ only bright spot in the evening came in the third when M McCormick won his match.

But then the Legion went into over drive as they rattled off the final five frames from C Morton, P Tinsley, A Clarke, R Draffin and P Hylands.

Imperial Inn 1

Hawthorn Rovers 7

The Hawthorn were in magnificent form as they totally dominated the Imperial in their own back yard which is no mean feat this season.

Everything went right for them as they won the opening six frames before I McCreanor registered the only positive frame for the Imperial.

M Ward, K McKee, K Tumilty, J Travers, D Armstrong, R Hills and J Christian were all winners for the visitors.

Castle B 4

Halfway House 4

As the score line tells us there is nothing seperating these two teams in the league.

There was never any more than one frame between the two teams as neither would give the other any leeway.

J Mulligan started the night off for the Halfway and E Meaney levelled in the next.

The frames were then shared alternatively through the night with R Harper, R McKevigan and F Byrne all winning for the Castle with A McCarten, D McAlinden and A Megan all successful for the Halfway.
