Gilford continue winning run

Moira Albion 0

Gilford Crusaders 2

MOIRA Albion, who came into this game with their heads up after a good win the week before, were the opponents for Gilford Crusaders last week.

This showed in the first half with both teams trying hard. There were a few good chances from both teams and only for good saves and for some last ditch defending either side could have been one up.

The first half could only be described as scrappy and the wind didn’t help the chances of good football being played.

But the second half started better with the wind having blown over. This meant Gilford could play some good football and any balls played out wide were staying in play, allowing for more open play.

Gilford’s first came from with a ball out to the left, played in to Davie Corbet who somehow rounded the keeper and slid the ball in from an impossible angle with his left foot.

Moira tried to push on from that; they had a few chances on goal but Martin Savage was on form with some good saves.

Moira’s hopes improved when Gilford were reduced to 10 men after the referee to showed a second yellow card to a Crues player. However the locals regrouped and were just as effective with 10 as they were with 11.

This showed when Gilford broke away through Michael Fitzsimmons with a great run down the right flank and a great cross to the back post to the feet off Ryan McDowell who sidefooted the ball home for Gilford’s second.
