Clann na Banna PRO Barry McConville explained a little more about the camp. “The camp will run from Monday July 26 until Friday July 30," he said.

"We will be hosting a special nursery Cl camp this year at Cottage Park, for P1 and P2 kids between 10am and 12.30pm and the main camp for P3 to P7 kids from 10am-2.30pm. All kids taking part will receive the much sought after 2010 Cl Camp skip, backpack and ball.

Cost per child for the nursery camp is 25 and for the main camp it is 35. This represents great value for the week’s coaching and the Cl Camp merchandise. But for us, it’s more about the kids having fun and making new friends.

"It is anticipated that over 100,000 kids will take part in the 2010 Cl Camps and Clann na Banna’s is one of the busiest in the county so get your booking in early!

"We are recommending that parents use the booking forms available from the club, either call up at training on a Thursday night, or email the Secretary at the club via our website We are also on Facebook if any parent gets a few minutes to themselves to get online.

"But places are limited, so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.

"The programme itself involves coaching specific skills of Gaelic football giving all the children the opportunity to put into practice what they have learned using small structured games. All the coaches are provided by the GAA and have undergone extensive training in coaching young children, as well as all the usual Child protection courses that all our mentors are required to undertake.

"We pride ourselves on providing the local parents with a trusted and fun packed week in the Clann na Banna Cl Camp, and sure, it’s a bit of a break for the mums too!”

Clann na Banna Cl Camp runs from Monday July 26 to Friday July 30.
