Galacticos see off champions Swift

The Weapons kicked off the last matches of the season against the Whitehead Trojans and finished as they started with talisman Rab McCullough and Iain from Spain both bagging hat-tricks.

Elsewhere the Teddy Bears continued their impressive season with a clinical performance against a poor GWMSC.

The Cowboys hosted this year’s new boys, the Greenisland Colts, taking apart the visitors with session wins of 5-2 & 6-1.

League runners-up the Scorpions had an impressive away win against Davy Flanigan’s Eastway.

Clare Roberts’ warriors travelled to Whitehead and didn’t have the best of evenings as they found an in-form Spartans team that only dropped 2 frames with returning player Ed McDowell signing off with a treble backed up by the ever-present Stephen McWhirter taking a fine hat-trick of his own.

The Hitmen hosted Angie Carson’s Alpha. Paul Henderson finished off his best season to date with another hat-trick and Sara Greenberg added another to her fine season’s collection.

And finally the match of the evening between the out-going champions and the newly-crowned Champions, Galacticos v The Swift.

The hosts lead 4-3 at the break and the pressure was on the visitors.

Derek Whiteside’s Galacticos pulled out a 2 frame lead before The Swift got back on terms at 6-5 down. With the next 2 frames shared, the Swift manager put himself in for the last and still the chance of going unbeaten. It wasn’t to be as Shaun McAlister held his cool in a tense situation to close out the match in favour of the hosts 8-6.

With the league settled, focus now moves to the end of seasonprogramme with the first running of the 5-asides next Tuesday in the Swift kicking off at 7.30pm with the Castle, Knockagh and Harbour Cups the following week.
