Dromore Ladies Fourths 0

Ards Thirds 0

DROMORE Fourths were at Ards Thirds at the weekend.

Four of the regular team were selected to play for the Thirds and due to they had to call upon several veteran players to fill in the spaces: Lynette Coggan at sweeper, Kate Russell at centre back, Cheryl Jenkins moved into centre midfield and Sharon Russell filled in as a right winger.

Ards immediately came out strong and won several penalty corners which never resulted in any goals because keeper, Laura McGuiness, expertly saved and cleared all of these.

After an inspiring half time talk from Johnny McBride, who encouraged each player and enthused them, Dromore came out more confident in the second half.

The veteran players settled down and played their game. This resulted in some great runs from forwards Ashton Tolerton, Sadie Henry and Sharon Russell but unfortunately the other keeper saved any shots. So when the whistle went for full time the score remained 0-0.

Thanks to Johnny McBride for his umpiring skills and his effective and expert coaching at half time.

Dame of the game must go to Laura McGuiness who expertly dealt with any shots that came her way.
