Banbridge Rangers Reserves progressed to the third round of the Mid Ulster Shield when they eliminated Carnbane League side Parkview on Saturday.

Rangers striker Andy Mallen made the most of his four chances by scoring a hat-trick and hitting the post with his other effort.

On sixteen minutes Banbridge Rangers opened the scoring when Robbie Baird picked out Mallen who slotted in from eight yards out.

On 26 minutes minutes Gers winger Stephen Copes struck a very good first time shot which the Parkview keeper could only parry and Mallen was on hand to score his second. Aaron Chambers made it 3-0 with a very good finish after an initial shot was blocked.

Parkview scored after the interval, but the result was put to bed when Andy Mallen secured his hat-trick when he blasted through the keeper from just outside the box.

In the 90th minute Mallen was upended in the box and Trevor McMinn stepped up and put the penalty into the top corner to make it 5-1.

Banbridge Rangers Reserves now wait to meet the winners of Valley Rangers Reserves and Keady Celtic in Round 3 of the Shield.
