TOWN Juniors U13s Lisburn League team gained a valuable win in what was a six point game against second from bottom Ballymacash at Rushmore on Saturday morning.
The game began on a sombre note with a minute silence impeccably observed by everyone, in respect of Town player, Jamie McAtamney’s father who passed away during the week after illness.
On what was a very bumpy pitch the Juniors found it difficult to get any rhythm into their passing and couldn’t find their way through a stubborn Ballymacash rear-guard in the opening half.
Clear cut chances were few and far between and the game remained scoreless at half time.
The second half sprang into life and belonged to Gavin Fearon who fired in a superb hat trick to rescue all six points for the Juniors.
Town upped their game in the second half, but for one momentary lapse when the defence failed to clear decisively, Ballymacash nicked a goal, but in truth they had little to offer for the remainder of the half.
With chances going a begging for Town, Fearon was absolutely clinical in his finishing, after moving to the right wing and was a deserved man of the match.
The team, management and all connected with Banbridge Town Juniors would like to offer their sincere condolences to their team-mate Jamie and all his family circle on the passing of his father Patrick and look forward to his return to action.
