Underage teams have a mixed bag of results at Cheney and Havelock

Banbridge Rangers Under 18s 1

Ballinamallard Under 18s 4

Banbridge Rangers Under 18s hosted Ballinamallard at Cheney Park on Saturday morning and went down four goals to one and were beaten by a strong side who had previously beaten Rangers comfortably in the opposing fixture early in the season. By the midway point in the first half Ballinamallard were two goals to the good but were pegged back by a superb Lee McCullough strike on the half hour mark. Ballinamallard regained their two goal advantage within minutes and left Rangers with an uphill battle at half time.

The closest Banbridge Rangers came to getting back into the game was an audacious effort by Stuart Cairns who spotted the keeper off his line but his shot just missed the top of the bar after being struck from inside his own half. With fifteen minutes remaining Ballinamallard put the game to bed with a well worked move resulting in the fourth goal of the game. This Saturday Banbridge Rangers are due to travel to play Markethill Swifts with kick off at 10.00am.

After the break Lurgan Town pulled a goal back but within minutes Josh Lyttle had restored the three goal advantage for Rangers. The second half was more even with Lurgan scoring a second goal with just over five minutes remaining but this was cancelled out by striker Oakes who finished off the game with a cool finish to run out 5-2 winners.

Banbridge Rangers Under 8s 3

Lurgan Town Under 8s 1

Banbridge Rangers Under 8s had their scheduled away games called off due to waterlogged pitches but were able to switch venue to Havelock Park and accommodate Lurgan Town Juniors. In a tight game Banbridge Rangers took an early lead through left winger Adam Knox but were pegged back to level terms by Lurgan after ten minutes. Before the half time interval Banbridge Rangers Vildeson dos Santos carried the ball out of defence and skipped past two challenges before firing his shot past the Lurgan keeper to give the home side a 2-1 lead at the interval.

Lurgan Town pushed hard for an equalizing goal but came up against a resilient Josh Clarke in the Rangers nets who pulled off a string of fine saves. Banbridge Rangers put the game to bed with five minutes remaining when Adam Knox capitalised to score his second goal of the day with a well controlled finish.
