Unbeaten run extended further

TOWN Juniors Under-14s outfit continued their unbeaten run with a hard earned 4-1 victory over Loughgall on Saturday last.

In truth - the locals made hard work of this win and never reached the high performance levels of recent weeks.

The Loughgall side were much improved from the game when the locals previously triumphed, and for the first half were undoubtedly the better side.

The Banbridge boys started the game in a casual manner and were one down after 10 minutes when the defence failed to react quick enough to a shot that thundered in off the crossbar.

The visitors had a number of other attempts on the Banbridge goal as the locals struggled to settle and establish their usual passing game.

They got a lifeline however on the stroke of half time when a hand ball in the box resulted in a penalty kick which Gavin Fearon confidently converted.

In the second half the locals played with much more determination and they took the lead when a speculative effort from Jamie McAtameney deceived the Loughall keeper.

With Moore, McParland, and Fearon bossing the central midfield a third goal was inevitable and came after good build up play by Matthew Porter when he released Gavin Fearon who finished well to maintain his impressive scoring form.

The Town’s fourth goal was the pick of the bunch and was superbly finished by Evan Taylor from 20 yards.

Loughgall to their credit never gave up and drew a magnificent save from keeper Billy Campbell in the last couple of minutes.

In the end a comfortable win for the Banbrdge boys despite not being at their best.
