Unbeaten run ends

THE Swifts’ unbeaten start to the league campaign ended on Saturday past as league leaders Armagh left Ingram park with the spoils after twice coming from behind.

The swifts started at a fierce pace and rocked Armagh back into their own half for the opening period. Pressure paid off when Toal showed good feet to break down the left and fire across goal where Hollingsworth reacted quickest to slide home at the back post and send the home team and supporters into raptures.

This shook Armagh into action and they started to get their game going. Armagh got a freekick 25 yards out whenGilmore mistimed a tackle and from this free kick the ball was swung to the backpost where an Armagh defender headed powerfully at Curran in nets. He had the ball in his hands when an Armagh striker poked it up and headed home for a debatable leveller.

Rathfriland again took the game to ArmAgh and once again that man Toal showed excellent feet to play the ball behind the Armagh defenders were Hollingsworth comfortably controlled and fired home to regain the lead.

Once again Armagh broke forward and equalised when a cross was diverted into the Swifts net by Jackson who could do nothing to avoid the ball travelling at pace.

Armagh found a break through with twenty minutes remaining when Megaw tackled an Armagh striker from behind on the edge on the box with the ref awarding a penalty.

Curran reacted well to save the initial weak penalty but the ball broke kindly for the taker who fired home the rebound.

The fourth goal sealed the points for Armagh when from a corner The Armagh midfielder Davidson outjumped his marker to power home the clincher.
