U9s get off to a winning start

BANBRIDGE Town U9s kicked their season off at the IFA Development Centre in Portadown with a 6-3 win over Loughgall.

Banbridge started the game strong and went a goal up with a great strike into the top corner from Josh Kerr.

They could have further stretched their lead but the keeper saved twice from Harry Annett and again from Tom King.

Loughgall then equalised after a good break away goal but Banbridge regained the lead with Annett putting them 2-1 up and then Kerr scored a second individula goal to make it 3-1.

Loughgall then pulled another back to leave the score at the first interval 3-2.

On the restart Banbridge continued to play good football with Bobby Jones, Jack Murray and Alex Innocenzi showing great defensive displays while Tom King and Jack Murray also were strong in midfield.

Josh Kerr`s industry again set up Annett but his shot hit the post and out while an own goal then put Town 4-2 up at the sceond interval. Further goal’s from Innocenzi and another to give Kerr his hat trick put Banbridge 6-2 up with Loughgall scoring very late on to leave the final score at 6-3.

Overall an excellent peformance from the boys in their first outing of the season with the other Banbridge Town Juniors U-9 team also winning 8-2 against Lurgan Town with Owen Wilson and Adam Hamilton getting four goals each.
