U9s in Carbane League action

SLANE U9s were back in action at the weekend in the Carnbane League.

It was a cold wintery morning over at the Carnbane Complex but the kids bravely battled the elements to put in two fine performances.

First up was Rathfriland and Slane knew they were up against it from the start. They were pushed back into their own half, Jason Ferguson was defending well with Joseph Weir and Kerrie Hanna who was hitting hard in the tackles.

The Town took the lead after seven minutes when the striker hit a low hard shot into the bottom corner giving Thomas Bell no chance between the posts.

Marc Cochrane broke up the left wing and fired in a shot that whizzed just wide of the post. Andrew Megaw and Megan Davis were working hard in the middle of the park against a strong Town team who scored another two goals in the second half to secure the win. Best for Slane was hard working Marc Cochrane.

Slane then played Midway who are sitting top of the league and again put in a fine performance.

Slane went two down early in the game and could have pulled back a goal but for a good save from Cochrane’s shot. Davis also had a shot graze the wrong side of the woodwork.
