U16s’ winning run continues

TOWN Juniors Under-16s continued their winning run with a routine victory over Ridgeway on Saturday morning, but it was a more difficult game than the scoreline suggests.

Town went one up after only four minutes when Josh Cargin broke down the right wing and played an excellent ball across to David Gray who finished with a low crisp shot past the keeper.

That should have been the first of many goals but the Juniors let Ridgeway back into it five minutes later after some slack defending, their striker broke through to score past keeper William Maxwell.

Banbridge, although well on top, couldn’t find the net again until the 25th minute when Gareth Orr played a lovely ball into the box for Josh Cargin to head home.

In the second half Banbridge continued to struggle to get any real rhythm into their game but 15 minutes into the half Josh Buchanan was brought down for a penalty which Josh Cargin comfortably converted and Declan Loy made it four 10 minutes later with a neat little header from a Stephen McCavitt corner.

As this was a six point match it keeps the Juniors up in the top two in the league although they have played more games than their close rivals.
