U15s held to stalemate

THE Juniors Under 15s outfit played their part in a terrific match against Lisburn Distillery on Saturday morning.

Banbridge were delt an early blow when they lost key midfielder Declan Loy to a knee injury after only a few minutes.

The Juniors went close after 20 minutes when Ryan Williamson headed a Lee Close cross just wide but a few minutes later they took the lead when Josh Buchanan found Lee Close who crossed to Finn Campbell to score from close range.

Michael Jordan almost made it two when his long range shot hit the crossbar and shortly after Distillery were awarded a penalty but William Maxwell made an excellent save to keep Banbridge in front and a few

Minutes later he made an even better save from a strong header from the Distillery forward.

In the second half Distillery had more of the attacking play and put the Banbridge defence under a lot of pressure but they absorbed it well with Dylan Martin and Gareth Orr solid in the centre. Distillery eventually got their equaliser 20 minutes in to the half, although there was a suspicion of offside.

Banbridge had chance to win the game when David Gray and Stephen McCavitt worked a short corner but Distillery cleared and in the last minute Josh Cargin burst through on the left but his shot went over.
