U14s can hold heads high despite loss

Dromore Amateurs U14s travelled to Belfast last Saturday in a top of the table clash against their opponents.

With their first league defeat still smarting from their previous match, the young Dromore side went into this game with a real determined attitude.

Early exchanges for dominance between both sides were met with strong defensive play. The Dromore rear guard of Miguel Ferreria, Ben Scott, Jamie Gregg, Ben Scott and Ryan Gallagher were strong in the tackles and kept their opponents forwards at bay restricting them to only a couple of chances in the first half.

The best chance of the first half for Dromore fell to Joshua Kearns who found space in the box only for him to rush his effort which missed the target.

The second half saw the Dromore midfield off Ryan Woods, Jack Moore, Oliver McLuckie and Odhran Crozier stamp their authority on the game immediately and chances were coming thick and fast now for Ben Hanna and Joshua Kearns.

Halfway through the second half it was the U14s opponents that opened the scoring on one of their few forays forward. A loose ball bounced between Jamie Gregg and Ben Scott and the Shaftsbury forward reacted quickly to fire the ball past the stranded Dromore keeper.

For the remainder of the half Dromore searched for the equaliser but couldn’t find the final quality pass that would give them a clear cut chance.

A disappointing result but the U14s, as a team, were immense and can be really proud of they way they played and conducted themselves in such a hard match.
