U12s see off a very strong Ballywalter side

The defence of James Howard, Ian Palmer, Ben Scott and Jamie Gregg had to roll up their sleeves and dig in for the opening 15 minutes of the first half as the strong winds and good play from Ballywalter had Dromore on the back foot.

Dromore got themselves a foot hold in the game with the midfielders getting more time on the ball.

Henry Thomas scored his first goal for the team. Henry dribbled past the Ballywalter defence and held off a last ditch tackle before unleashing a strong effort from the edge of the box that left the Ballywalter keeper stranded on the spot.

Ballywalter got themselves a good equaliser just before halftime with a 25 yard free kick finding the top corner leaving Oliver McLuckie no chance.

With the introduction of Aaron Hanna and Jack Allen at half time galvanising the U12s for the second half, the only surprise was that the strong winds had now ceased.

Harry Lockhart created the second goal for Dromore when he crossed the ball into the box for the Dromore players to attack. Aaron Hanna thought he had scored with a header but the ball just missed him and fell to Jack Allen who forced the ball home from close range.

Captain James Howard kept the u12s momentum going as he was winning every tackle and finding a good pass allowing the forwards to try and find a third goal.

The George Best man of the match award went to James Howard and the Coaches award went to Harry Lockhart.

Next week the U12s travel to play league leaders Abbey Villa at Henry Jones playing fields at 11am.
