U12s held to a draw by Stars

DROMORE kicked off their new season in the Mid Ulster league at the weekend.

They travelled to Newry on Saturday and started the game well with Scott Briggs and Karl Teggart playing very well and most of Dromore’s attacking play was coming through the pair.

Windmill opened the scoring half way into the first half when Dromore failed to clear the ball and there right winger took a shot and found the roof of the net leaving stand-in keeper Josh Best no chance.

Dromore then created a great chance when Charles Cully, Scott Briggs and Karl Teggart played some great pass and move football that found Leon eight yards out, but he could not finish the move off.

The second half started with a change in keeper with matty crossey going into nets and the captain Reuben Turner going into defence.

Both defences were having the better of the game but a long ball from Joe Luke caught the Midway defence out and Karl Teggart ran onto it who then was brought down in the box with Dromore getting a penalty. Karl Teggart then stepped up and put it into the corner.

The home side then put the pressure on Dromore, searching for a winner but the U12s stayed strong and worked hard for the point.

Best players on the day were Benjamin Smyth and Scott Briggs.

Dromore play Dungannon this Saturday at the Leisure Centre, with kick-off at 10.30am.
