U12s can take pride from performance

WITH confidence still high from the previous week's win Dromore U12s were looking forward to the challenge of playing North Belfast.

They didnt disapoint the parents that stayed to watch and put on another really good performance leaving the coaches impressed with their high level of play.

North Belfast were shocked to find a transformed home team and were put on the back foot right from the off.

Only some good goalkeeping from the North Belfast number one kept the score at 0-0. The best of these saves came after Tom Stannage broke free to go one on one with the keeper and what looked like a certain goal was thwarted at the last moment.

With the game 0-0 at half time it gave the young home team time to get their refreshments on board and get ready for another hard second half.

Midway through the second half the home team's hearts were broken when the referee gave a very soft penalty to allow North Belfast to open the scoring. This knocked the U12s out of their stride and North Belfast added two more quick goals.

The U12s bounced back got their reward for their good determination when they were awarded a penalty late on. Oliver McLuckie, the U12s goalie, stepped up to take the penalty. The resulting finish would have put any centre forward to shame, when he drilled the ball into the side netting of the left side of the goal to get Dromore on to the scoresheet.

The George Best Man of the Match was Tom Stannage and the Players vote and the Manager's player of the match went to Ian Palmer.

Next week Dromore U12s travel to the Billy Neill centre to play Castle Juniors at 11am.
