U10s Colts are on top form

THIS week the Colts were paired against Moneyslane for the first time this season and both teams served up an entertaining game of football.

The Colts kicked their habit of slow starts whit Rhys McKee weaving his way through the defence to open the scoring with a well placed shot into the corner.

This effort seemed to settle the team and Thomas Ingram to add to the scoring. Continued pressure from Adam Cromie, Johnny McGivern and captain Alexander Fitzsimmons saw the local lads force a corner from which Magowan found the ever ready Ingram whose sweet header found the back of the net.

Fitzsimmons was leading by example, dealing with anything the Moneyslane attack could throw at him with able support from Darcy Burns, Darren Sloane and Tiernan Maginn. A spell of pressure saw Moneyslane open their account for the day only for Rathfriland’s top marksman Jordan Magowan to restore the lead with another super strike, his 10th of the season.

The Colts shuffled the decks for the final period and some neat footwork from Adam Cromie in midfield found Maginn who’s one two with McGivern saw the ball find Ingram who went on a dazzling run to complete his hat-trick. In the dying seconds a long pass from Burns found Ryan Tumility and he coolly slotted the ball under the advancing keep to open his account for the Colts.
