Two hat-tricks are not enough

The Swifts started well creating an early chance to take the lead for Ben Johnston who’s left footed shot hit the side netting. However, Camlough hit form at stunned the local lads with four goals in a ten minute spell.

After the break Rathfriland started to pass the ball much better with brilliant passing move from Caolan Teer and Ben Johnston putting through Alan McKnight to fire just wide. Rathfriland were given some hope when Mark Bronte slotted home right footed after been put through by Johnston. Some hope then turned into real hope when Bronte added a second with a rare left footed strike and minutes later he completed his hat-track when his shot from the halfway line eluded the Camlough keeper and found the net. The comeback looked to be complete when Rathfriland were awarded a penalty but Chambers pulled it inches wide of the post.

Camlough then scored two more goals and looked to be heading for safety again; however Chambers had other ideas by smashing in his first at the near post having been put through by Danielle Megaw, flicked in a clever second and rounded the keeper to complete his hat-trick. A brilliant footballing performance by the whole team could not secure the win but the fight shown by all made the coaches very happy.
