third win puts town on top

Town’s amazing start to the season continues and proudly sit at the top of the Championship 2 table after their third successive league victory.

James Wilson was involved in Town’s first real attack and fired over a dangerous cross which was fortunately for Glebe cut out by central defender Cameron.

On 11 minutes Steven O’Neill went close when he connected with a right wing cross but slackness in the home defence was to prove costly four minutes later when Glebe’s Shepherd scrambled the ball home to give the visitors a 1-0 lead following another corner. McVicker forced a save from Cairnduff seconds later as Town regrouped.

Despite pushing Glebe back into defence constantly they could find little penetration - until the 38th minute, that is. It was Pedlow who instigated the equaliser when he unleased a 30 yard thunderbolt which ‘keeper Kane pushed out at full stretch only for the alert Steven O’Neill to follow up and steer his shot into the bottom corner.

Banbridge started the second half at their normal blistering pace and forced Glebe on the back foot. The pressure from Town finally paid off after 65 minutes when another great Pedlow cross from the left was headed over the stranded Kane by Martin Buchanan who rose above the struggling Glebe central defenders to put the homesters 2-1 ahead.

Substitute Paul Walsh was only minutes into the game when he took a pass from the over-lapping James Wilson and skipped through to plant the perfect cross on to the head of the diving Steven O’Neill who nodded past Kane to put Town into a commanding 3-1 lead. A 100% record after four games and top of the table has left Ryan Watson and his backroon staff pinching themselves!.
