Slane Reserves smash eight past Scarva

Moneyslane Reserves continued their promotion push with a stunning 8-0 victory over Scarva Rangers Reserves.

Moneyslane started the game brightly, putting pressure on the home team from the first whistle. They had the first chance on goal when Neil Hanna played the ball into Kyle Scott, who turned and shot but the ball just rose over the crossbar.

Soon after, Jonny Adair came close to breaking the deadlock but his shot went narrowly wide. Five minutes before half time, the away team finally grabbed their goal when Jordan Fairley crossed a great ball, which was met by Jonny Adair to give Moneyslane a 1-0 lead.

The away team came out all attack at the start of the second half and within minutes grabbed another goal as Jordan Fairley was played though and slotted past the on-coming Scarva keeper.

Scarva heads seemed to drop after this as Fairley grabbed his second of the game, heading home a delivery from Scott to make it 3-0. Fairley returned the favour as he played in Scott who chipped past the keeper from just inside the Scarva box. Fairley was to complete his hat-trick soon after when he found himself one-on-one with a defender who brought him down inside the penalty area. He stepped up himself and smashed the penalty into the bottom left corner to make it 5-0 to the away side.

The scoring didn’t stop there as the Slane won a free-kick on the edge of the Scarva box. Neil Bingham chipped the ball into the area, where it was met by Graham Kelly un-challenged and he slotted past the Scarva keeper at his near post.

Scarva did very little to threaten the Slane goal in the second half and the one chance they did create was cleared off the line by Jonny Adair. The home team were really stretched by now and Gareth Wilson found himself in acres of space on the right wing and he delivered a great cross which was met by the head of Kyle Scott for his second goal of the game.

Wilson bagged a goal minutes from time as Ervine Boyd unselfishly played him in to slot home into an empty Scarva net to complete the rout.
