Slane handed Sirocco cup tie

COCA Cola Intermediate Cup - Moneyslane Football Club are set to take another historic step and this time it is in Round One of the Coca Cola Intermediate Cup.

The draw was made last Friday and Slane have been drawn to play away to Sirocco Works FC on Saturday October 27 with 1.30pm kick off.

Sirocco Works currently ground share with Dundela FC at Wilgar Park, the famous Hen Run in Strandtown, East Belfast.

They play in Division 1B of the Amateur League and will always be linked to the famous Sirocco Engineering Works located on the East Bank of the River Lagan in Belfast.

The Club joined the Amateur League in 1924 and is the longest serving members of the League; they won six back to back titles and were the first Amateur League side to win the Steel and son$B!G(Js Cup.

Manager Neil McCullough is looking forward to his and his team’s biggest challenge of the season so far.

First Team in League Action - Moneyslane will play in the league this Saturday at Crystal Park, Banbridge with a 2.15pm kick off against Laurelvale.

The visitors dropped down to Intermediate B this season from the top flight and indeed won the section in 2005-06 season, but they will find Slane on a good run and full of confidence with some new signings strengthening the squad.

Neil McCullough’s side will want to build on last week$B!G(Js victory in the local derby against AFC Banbridge.

Reserves in Mid-Ulster Shield - Moneyslane Reserves will play Woodside this coming Saturday at Frank Curran Park, Newry in round one of the Mid-Ulster Shield with a 1.30pm kick off.

It’s the first time that both clubs have played each other and it will be close encounter with both teams in a rich vein of form.

Woodside are currently sitting third in the Carnbane Premier League having won five of their opening eight games and manager Marty Hanna says it will be a tough fixture but his side will be up for it on the day.

Moneyslane Thirds in derby - Moneyslane Third team will take on Rathfriland at Ingram Park this coming Saturday in the Newcastle League local derby clash.

Both teams will lock horns in their first encounter of the season and Slane manager Davy McCullough is looking forward to the game and says the team is on a good run at the moment and playing some great football and he expects there will be plenty of goals in this game.

A good crowd will be expected up the line for the 2pm kick off.
