Outgoing manager David Johnstone was given a fond farewell after his final game - a 7-0 victory over Laurelvale.

Hosted in The Anglers Rest, the club’s 33rd anniversary dinner dance and awards night saw the first team and reserves name their key men from the recent campaign.

There was certainly cause for celebration after the first team’s recent promotion to Mid-Ulster’s Intermediate A.

The prize-winners were as follows:

Moneyslane Under 7s made their big debut at Jubilee Park against near neighbours Rathfriland U7s.

Young player of the year - Neil Taylor

Clubman - The Strictly organisers and dancers

Chairman’s Shield - Lyndsay Henning and Matthew Newell

Supporters Club - Stevie Coulter

The third team, meanwhile, will be having their awards this Saturday at the club’s own Jubilee Park.

Moneyslane’s first team rounded off their season on the Tuesday night before their awards with a 7-0 win over Laurelvale. Neil Taylor and Mark Ervine bagged a brace each while Johnny Kernaghan, Gareth Rees and Brian Quilty were also on target.

That means Slane finished the season with 130 league goals and a +97 goal difference. That’s an astonishing average of exactly five goals per game - the highest out of not only the Intermediate Leagues but incredibly out of all 11 Mid-Ulster divisions.

Marty Hanna’s U7s made their big debut at Jubilee Park last week.

The club’s talented bunch played a friendly against neighbours Rathfriland. Coach Marty Hanna was very proud of his team who have been training very hard.

Many thanks to Ally Murray and Justin Rowan for bringing their team up and helping organise the match.

Congratulations from everybody at Moneyslane to Neil and Amanda Gamble on the birth of their son Harry. Neil, a long time player and loyal standing order member plays an invaluable role at Jubilee Park and is the captain of the club’s third team.

Moneyslane would also like to wish Moneyslane Strictly dancer Cathy McDonald all the best on her wedding.
