The Juniors’ U15s welcomed Valley Rangers to Cheney Park last Saturday for their Mid Ulster Youth League clash and the local side hit six goals in an excellent performance.

The game kicked off at a very high tempo with both teams pressing each other high up the pitch. The breakthrough came after nine minutes, when a Valley Rangers player smashed an unstoppable volley into the roof of the net.

The Juniors responded well and put the visitors under a lot of pressure but were unable to capitalise until the 23rd minute when a through ball found Simon McAllister who went one-on-one with the ‘keeper and cooly finished to open his account for the season.

Three minutes before the break a Valley Rangers player sustained a serious wrist injury which interrupted play for half an hour while he received treatment.

The second half got underway with the Juniors asking all the questions of the Valley Rangers defence. Twelve minutes in Town edged in front when the in form Simon McAllister played an inviting pass for the tireless Caleb Schiess who smashed the ball with his left foot right into the top corner.

The Juniors unleashed wave after wave of attack upon the Valley Rangers defence with substitute Liam Farrell starting the rout with a fierce volley on 13 minutes.

Twenty minutes in saw Alex Byrne float in a delightful free kick for Jonny Rodgers to flick over the keeper and give the Juniors a cushion and two minutes later a ball in from the left by Owen Byrne found Liam farrell to double his tally.

With Rangers having no answer to the Juniors attackers, Michael Rafferty could only watch as his shot rebounded off the post, however Liam Farrell was on hand to slot the ball home and complete his hat trick.

Valley Rangers grabbed a consolation goal on 26 minutes to leave the final score at 6-2. This week’s man of the match was Simon McAllister for a great performance and attitude.
