MONEYSLANE U16s played Kesh at the weekend away in the league and gave a good account of themselves with a depleted team who were short of six regulars on the day.

The players who stood in gave a good performance and played their socks off in a game that Slane should have got a least a share of the spoils at full time.

Slane pushed Kesh into their own half in the opening minutes and Dickson hit just wide and McCann hit over the top.

The locals went a goal behind from a corner that was headed in at the back post.

Hutchinson hit just wide of the target and he was working his socks off in the middle of the park.

Shilliday was solid in defence on the day with Bready cutting out the danger on the right and Porter winning the aerial balls.

Again from a set piece Slane slipped up and went 2-0 down going into the break.

Slane battled hard in the second half and came out a different team, pushing to get back into the game.

Galloway scored half way through the half to make it a close tight encounter.

Hutchinson and Dickson both had chances to seal a draw but their efforts went wide. Carlisle and Martin were both working hard in the midfield but Slane ran out of time to hit the equaliser in the end.

Overall a good performance by all the lads on the pitch on the day and man of the match went to Ryan Shilliday who was immense at sweeper on the day.
