Semi place booked after tough tie

The management decided to play 10 out of the starting 11 that did so well against Shankhill on Wednesday.

Conor Nicholson was unlucky to be dropped to the bench to make way for Banbridge keeper Johnny Bergin who couldn’t make it on Wwednesday.

Johnny made a great save in the 10th minute, diving to his left to stop a point blank shot from the Grosvenor winger.

Banbridge looked nervous and conceded a goal shortly after as Grosvenor were allowed to pass the ball about to each other with ease.

This woke Banbridge up and they started to close players down and get a grip of the game and thay equalised just before the break through Correy Wells, chipping the keeper after making a good run on the wing.

Banbridge scored in the second half after Jack O’Hagan played a lovely through ball to top goalscorer, Rian Devlin and from 25 yards out he hit an unstoppable rocket of a shot into the net.

Banbridge looked comfortable after this but with only five minutes left they conceded a penalty after the ball hit Robbie Redpath’s hand and Grosvenor scored, taking the tie into extra time.

Banbridge scored with four minutes left of extra time, once again Rian Devlin coming up with another goal to take his team into the semi final.

The players showed a lot of passion in this game, something that was missing at the start of the season so they need to keep this up on Wednesday night as they play Lisburn Distillery at Crystal Park at 6.30pm.

This promises to be a very good game as Distillery are fighting for the league so if you’re not doing anything why don’t you come down and cheer the lads on.
