Seapatrick dominant but have to settle for a point

Markethill Swifts 2

Seapatrick 2

Seapatrick came away from Markethill with a single point on Saturday after dominating most of the first half and the entire second half.

After only 10 minutes the Village found themselves on the wrong side of a two goal score line, bad defending allowing the Markethill forward in on two occasions to give the home side the advantage.

However, after some small changes to their formation the visitors began to dictate play and looked the more likely team to score.

The Village’s first goal came when Stephen Blackwood played a diagonal ball from right to left, behind the Markethill defence for ‘Ernie’ Buchanan to run onto and calmly slot the ball past the advancing Swifts goalkeeper.

Despite the visitors having several chances to equalise before half time the score line remained at 2-1.

With the wind at their back and confidence building Seapatrick started the brighter of the two sides in the second half.

The Seapatrick forward combination of Keith McVitty and ‘Mucker’ McGrath continued to causing the Markethill defence problems and it was only a matter of time before Keith got his first of the season and the visitor’s equaliser.

Despite several more chances the Village could not capitalise and the game finished with honours even.

A better all round performance from all of the Village players.

The players can take heart from this game, there were a lot of positives to take from it, tighter defending, good attacking play and belief in themselves and their team mates.
