Reserves throw away half time lead

Broomhedge 3

Moneyslane Reserves 2

MONEYSLANE Reserves travelled last weekend to play Broomhedge in the league.

They were on a roll with an unbeaten seven games in a row and were looking to extend the good form.

Slane went two goals up when Gary Hanna converted a penalty after 25 minutes when the Broomhedge back handled the ball inside the box. The referee pointed to the spot.

Jason Gibson rifled a shot into the top corner of the net from outside the box 10 minutes later.

Gibson and Gareth Hamilton could have added a third but failed to convert.

Disaster struck for Slane when the hosts broke up field and scored two minutes before the break with a neatly taken header.

Slane started the second half a brightly as the first and could again have put the game to bed but missed opportunities cost them dear in the end.

They slacked off and took the foot of the pedal and let the opposition to come into the game. The team spirit that has been in the squad for the last seven games had eluded them and the home side equalised on the hour to make it 2-2.

With 10 minutes to the final whistle the home side went further in front with a neat goal when the Slane keeper was chipped and the ball nested in the net.
