Reserves get a win over Slane

John McCahon and Neil Wilson racked up 50 goals between them last year and the SAS of Banbridge both came away from the game with a hat trick apiece to start this year’s tallies.

The scoring was opened on nine minutes through Wilson who curled an effort beyond Robert Strain from the edge of the area after a quick counter attack.

Some stand-off defending at the back for Rangers allowed Moneyslane to grab a quick equaliser. On the half hour mark John McCahon renewed Rangers lead with two goal in the next eight minutes giving Rangers a 4-1 cushion going into half time with McCahon and Wilson nothing another goal apiece with some fluid one touch football.

The next goal was going to decide the outcome of the game and the three valuable points with the impressive left winger Lee McCullough cutting in before seeing his deflected shot nestle in the near corner to extend Rangers lead to 5-1.

Neily Wilson made it six on the hour mark with another confident finish in front off goal followed by McCahon who sidefooted in for his hattrick on 72 minutes.

Moneyslane Reserves grabbed a late consolation to reduce the deficit but it was Banbridge Rangers Third string who moved to the top of the table in the opening round of games.

Rangers Swifts next game is at Cheney Park this Saturday evening with kick off at the later time off 5pm.

The Reserves are also at home on Saturday at the Tech pitch with their league campaign getting underway against current Reserve Champions Loughgall with kick off at 2.15pm.
