Point get the points off U11s

THIS was an entertaining game full of goals and incidents.

Due to injury Dromore were missing Joel and with other players absent they gave a first start to Jon-Marc Maguire who slotted into left back.

It was Dromore who were put under pressure from their own kick off, as Warrenpoint burst forward, but Josh pulled off a stunning save and the resulting corner was bundled away.

After a spell of Warrenpoint pressure, it was Dromore’s turn to get a few corners and free kicks, the first two that Euan took not one of the Dromore players could convert. The third corner was different, Morgan Houston came up from the back and headed in Euan’s accurate cross. However within two minutes Warren point were level again.

Morgan was beginning to enjoy himself, drifting inside from his own half and making an amazing run to the edge of the box, from where he scored a stunning goal. Then the Dromore defence did not clear the ball and let another goal in.

The first half was coming to a close but there was still time for a penalty claim to be turned down as Matthew Magill was brought down by the keeper. Euan took another great free kick which was saved and Warren point scored just on half time.

The second half Dromore started poorly conceding two quick goals. Matthew Thompson came on and went up front. Philip dropped back into defence. Adam who had been quite first half started to get some joy on the wing and with great footwork crossed for Matthew Briggs to score.

Dromore were now playing well and Morgan had a taste for a defenders hatrick, which came from another strong run, combining beautifully with Adam and Morgan finished from a tight angle. Warrenpoint got their sixth goal, but Dromore did not give up and Nathan struck Dromore’s fifth goal with a shot from outside the area.

Dromore pressed for an equaliser but it just would not come. What a dramatic game and a great debut from Jon-Marc. Congratulations to Morgan Houston for his great performance and hat trick.
