Owen's goal makes it two on the trot Town

Owen Vennard was the hero for Banbridge Town's Under 15s as they made it two league wins on the bounce as they defeated high-flying Dungannon 1-0 last Friday evening.

It was a game that was always going to be a tough test for the locals.

And it proved so as, throughout the 90 minutes, chances were few and far between.

The difference came, however, when Town took theirs as the opportunity presented itself.

The first half was a tight affair with both defences on top and the best chances fell to Dungannon but not for the first time this season, Town’s goalkeeper Aaron Devlin produced a couple of fine saves.

The second half was similar to the first with Town’s rearguard of Henry Doogan, Owen Scullion, James Orr and Charles Cully throwing their bodies on the line for the cause thwarting the Dungannon attack on numerous occasions.

Town’s midfield of Keelan Quigley, Owen Vennard, Shea Winters, Ben Johnston and William Doogan all ran themselves into the ground covering every blade of grass with Cameron Sands providing an outlet up top.

After a bit of decent pressure, Town got their goal midway through the second half and it came from Vennard when he dribbled past two players and slotted neatly past the onrushing keeper to give Banbridge the lead.

Dungannon peppered the Town defence for the remainder of the half but they remained resolute until the final whistle with goalkeeper Aaron Devlin again producing a few excellent saves to see out the game 1-0.

Every player in a Town jersey must congratulated for this win as they worked so hard right to the end and deserved their hard-earned three points.
