News from the sidelines at Moneyslane Football Club

Moneyslane FC Girls U13s travelled to Moyola Park at the weekend to take on Armagh Girls in the IFA Girls Summer League.

The Slane girls started off at a high tempo, pushing forward and looking for a weakness in the Armagh defence but their opponents were very strong and scored after 10 minutes.

Slane’s defences where tested again and Armagh took a 2-0 lead with a well taken goal.

The locals were combining well through the middle of the park. The ball was passed to Megan Davis who made no mistake; she took her chance in front of goal to make it 2-1.

Armagh again scored to stretch their lead but Sophie Megaw took her chance in fine style.

Laura Adams was working her socks off and firing in some hard hitting tackles and Andrea Stevenson was pulling the strings with some great movement and passing.

Every one of Slane’s girls were playing their hearts out all over the pitch and playing some neat pass and move football.

Erynn Kinley saved well and Sasha Martin and Chloe Megaw were strong at the back for Slane.

Davis and Megaw both missed the target with good efforts and the Armagh keeper was relieved to see another Megaw effort go wide.

The game ended with Sophie scoring her second of the game but in the end Armagh won 5-3.

Team: E Kinley, S Martin, M Davis, C Megaw, S Megaw, L Adams, A Stevenson.
